"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
A little over six hours ago I became a U.S. Citizen. I could think of no better way to celebrate my citizenship than to launch my new blog by taking my First Amendment rights for a test drive.
The First Amendment will serve as a central theme for this blog.
Over 200 years has passed since the Bill of Rights was ratified by three-fourths of the state legislatures on December 15, 1791. Both Speech and Press have evolved dramatically since that time. We find ourselves in a world where rapidly evolving digital cultural norms struggle to keep pace with transformational technologies – presenting new challenges in addressing the balance between Freedom of Speech and Privacy.
This blog is entitled Me. On My Terms. Why? Respecting the responsibility that Freedom of Speech bestows upon me is just as fundamental as the right itself. As we respond to rapidly evolving digital cultural norms we need to evolve the ground-rules. Play nice. Say please and thank you. Let’s protect and enable the power of the Internet.
I’ll be defining my terms … We will help you define yours. Take control of you. Don’t let someone else change or define your world for you.

Better that you took the first amendment for a drive than the second.
