I connected with Rajesh Setty, CEO of Suggestica yesterday. We were discussing blogs and blogging … after clicking over to his blog (Life Beyond Code) I couldn’t resist riffing a little more on the New York Times article by Matt Richtel entitled In Web World of 24/7 Stress, Writers Blog Till They Drop.

I had just returned from physical therapy for my new found pain in the neck … No, the culprit wasn’t blogging. Although … I wonder. Note to self, improve posture when at the keyboards (yup, keyboards – refer below) … Oh, and also check the mortality rates with blogging – Wikipedia? (no mention of blog mortality rate - writer or reader) Or CIA Fact Book? (No, data not deep enough … )

Blogging is demanding. Many talk about over-scheduled kids. Well, I’m an over-scheduled parent … and adding another time-slice for blogging isn’t like taking a shiatsu massage and relaxing a vodka martini – dirty, olives, straight up. This stuff takes time ...

Most of all, love Michael Harrington’s response as reported by Matt Richtel:

“I haven’t died yet,” said Michael Arrington, the founder and co-editor of TechCrunch, a popular technology blog. The site has brought in millions in advertising revenue, but there has been a hefty cost. Mr. Arrington says he has gained 30 pounds in the last three years, developed a severe sleeping disorder and turned his home into an office for him and four employees. “At some point, I’ll have a nervous breakdown and be admitted to the hospital, or something else will happen.”

“This is not sustainable,” he said.

Let's chek the list ... Sleep disorder arrived before blogging. Weight … no comment. Home has been an office many times. Blogging pace so far has been OK … Marathon, not sprint ... post, post, post …

Oh, and BTW I'm not dead yet either ...

Note - Can't get rid of the Monty Python Bring Out Your Dead sketch visual - need to get back to work ... Happy Friday
